UKIP Tiverton Honiton AGM

Monday, February 18th, 2008

The UKIP Tiverton Honiton Annual AGM was held on 9th February 2008. We had a good turnout, and some exellent speakers.

Our committee stands as follows:

Chairman: Tony McIntyre,

Vice Chairman (New Post): Ken Gilderthorp

Secretary: Alan Marks

Treasurer: Peter Richards.

After electing the officers, the meeting was entertained by the history of Paul Kenny, his background, coming from the East end of London, educating his way out of his situation by becoming a Barrister, later working in the Crown Prosecution Service. He then moved to the Isle of Man with an offshore trust company, he then moved to Devon where he is settled with his wife and children.

He then went on to say that he wanted to be a PPC for UKIP because the EU had caused such problems for his business in the past, and will be doing so in the future, there had to be some way of stopping it. UKIP is the only party who is doing something about this.

After hearing the speech, the meeting went on the formally ratify Paul Kenny as the PPC for the Tiverton Honiton Constituency in the event of an election.

Our second excellent speaker, Rodger Knapman MEP, gave an interesting talk on some of the schenanigans going on the EU Parliament.

Overall, the event was well run and as well as doing everything that an AGM needs to do - such as election of officers, all who attended the event thought that it was well run, and well put together.

All in all, the event looks set to put UKIP Tiverton on a strong footing for the next year.
